This hot, humid weather is making me feel so lethargic and lazy.  I really don't want to do anything but read and sit in the air conditioning!  So far this week, I am only scheduled to work Wednesday night and Saturday.  Even though I loved the money from working so many days the last two weeks, it was exhausting.  the commute, plus the preparations for new classes, plus the kids!  I do have two kids classes tomorrow night, but I'm getting more used to them now.

Well, I've figured out that my stomach problem is most likely a peptic ulcer.  I won't try to go into any explanation of what it is, since I'm not a doctor, but suffice to say that too much stomach acid is eroding the lining of my stomach (or intestine, I'm not sure which it is) and its causing a dull ache between my ribs and my belly button.  So, for the next two weeks, I've put myself on a diet:  no coffee (that is the hardest for me to handle!), no carbonated beverages, no citrus fruit or juices, no onions, no fried foods, especially fried potatoes, and no tomatoes.  I'll be drinking weak green tea rather than coffee and eating mild food like cheese, bread, yogurt, bananas, cereal, rice, etc.  I read somewhere that apples are good for this problem, but apples in Japan are unbelievably expensive - $2.00 each!!  I can't believe it!!  So I guess I'll stick to bananas.

I'm so looking forward to this trip to Nagano next week - the air is fresher and cooler, and we'll be able to swim, sit outdoors, visit an onsen (hot spring).  Can't wait!!

My family is having a reunion this week in Port Townsend, Washington, and I wish I could be there to join them!  I've missed the last several reunions because of where I was living.  I hope that they have a great time - and eat some Washington apples for me!
