Okay - I think that my cousin Linda has a divinely amazing influence! I got her package today of "goodies" from the states: maps of the U.S. and the world, posters and other great decorations and teaching materials for kids. We were able to put up a few of the decorations just in time for our first student, who came today for an interview. Our very first student is a woman in her mid 30s who is very nice (and who has limited English which is easy to teach , since I can start from the basics). She has a daughter in junior high, so I encouraged her to get her daughter to take a class too, and bring some friends! We'll see if that happens, but for now, I'll be teaching this woman once a week on thursdays.
And then, this afternoon, we got a call from my hairdresser who has a 4th grade daughter who wants to learn English. She will start taking lessons next month, so as of November, we will have two students (and hopefully more will be calling). Its not much, but its a start.
Linda wrote in her note (which accompanied all of the great stuff) "If you build it, they will come" (a reference to that movie Field of Dreams, which despite having Kevin Costner was a great film). I didn't believe it until today! thanks again Linda and Gina!!
meanwhile, the weather has taken a turn and is windy and cold. I like it because I'm not a warm weather person. I'm anxiously awaiting my two DVDs I ordered (yoga and pilates) so I can begin my exercise routine more rigorously. I started jogging last week, but this week I haven't gotten out there. I was too tired yesterday and today I had this student coming and had so much cleaning to do. maybe tomorrow or the next day? depends on the weather though - now a typhoon is supposedly coming!
