laurainlimbo at 07:08pm on 08/12/2005I've ended up with a free day tomorrow because my teaching in Shimizu canceled again - this is getting really hard working only a few days a week. I have to press Masahiko to do more advertising for our school after the New Year starts. We need to reach more people. Word of mouth might work eventually, but it will take time for that.
I had thought about taking the Japanese Language Proficiency Test but just found out today that its only offered once a year - and that once has already passed! Its only offered the first week of December, so if I start studying, I will have just about a year before I can take it. Of course I can take it even if I return to the states, so that's good! I will have to challenge myself and not take the lowest level (which is what I wanted to do) - if I have a whole year, and right now lots of time to study, then I have no excuse NOT to take Level 3, rather than level 4. That means learning 300 kanji (by sight, luckily I don't have to write them) and practicing my reading comprehension!!! OHMIGOD!!! If I can pass that level, though, I would be so much better than I am now - and more confident!
In other news, we've been invited to a Christmas party at some jazz club near here - I'll be glad to dress up a bit and get out and see people (rather than just my cat, my husband and the same four walls)! Even if Masahiko complains about the kind of music he is playing these days (he isn't a big fan of "The Tennessee Waltz") at least he is getting out more than I am. But I am gonna go early to Shizuoka on Saturday and get the rest of my x-mas shopping done finally! Yeah!!!
