traveling the road less taken. Feb. 9th, 2006.
Before I write anything, I want to say thank you to my newest friend dawnie1970 for "pimping" me on her journal. I have been hoping to meet some new friends on LJ, but didn't know how. She's such an awesome person, and she lights up my day!! I hope that some of her great friends will become mine too.
okay, that said, on to my humdrum life: I'm so so tired. Its that time of the month, which seems to drain all of my energy, and I actually worked today. two whole classes - but these were my faves so it was a fun day! I want to take all these students with me if I return to the U.S. - they are all so sweet! Its a crime to get paid for having fun... or is it?
anyway, I watched an interesting movie this morning, one that I have been wanting to watch for awhile: Wes Craven's "Red Eye." I've been a fan of Wes since his Freddy Krueger days. He's done some other great movies too, like the first "Scream" movie, which was one one of my favorites for awhile. But this was the first of his movies that wasn't horror. Its really more of a suspense, without much action (until the end). It stars Rachel McAdams (this is the first movie I've seen her in), and she's very good, and beautiful. The villain is a very cool actor, Cillian Murphy, who was also a villain in the recent Batman movie. He's very intense, and if he wasn't such a bad guy, I might have fallen in love with him - he's got gorgeous blue eyes and is quite charming, in a creepy way. I won't reveal the plot (which wasn't very original), but I will say, it was one of those movies that draws you in, and it certainly left me on the edge of my couch...biting my knuckles, which seems to be my habit lately when watching scary films (the other day I watched "Saw" - very very creepy movie). Being a horror director, Craven did manage to make the end of the film quite scary, and threw in some horror tactics (like the villain hiding behind closed doors, stalking the victim, and not dying very easily). But I say, if you like thrills, watch this movie- besides, its only 1 hour and 16 minutes long!
I am really far far behind in writing my most recent thoughts about Japan and my life - I've just been focusing on other things lately. but I plan to write something in my next entry - about trains, and funerals! Two things that define Japanese life. stay tuned...
After you die... Guardian Angel After death, you will exist as a guardian angel in order to protect your still-living loved ones. You might even inspire a classic Christmas movie. |
