Well this has been a typical slow, do-nothing Sunday! I literally did nothing productive today and I think that my brain has turned into mush! I really can't make a logical sentence in English (I've been trying to catch up on emails and I realized that I can't make sense, oh woe is me)!
Of course one reason that I did nothing today is that its been pissing down rain all day. I mean its really been coming down, and I spent nearly all day on the computer or with a book. We went out tonight only briefly, to the drug store, to get some snacks and beer (yay beer!), and I'm ready to watch "The Mummy" on TV for the umpteenth time! I love that movie -its just so much fun, and it has yummy Brendan Fraser! I had the biggest crush on him after I saw him for the first time back in that movie "School Ties." I wanted to marry him...
One thing I did today, though, was watch the rest of the movie "Breakfast on Pluto" with Cillian Murphy (2005 directed by Neil Jordan, of "The Crying Game" fame). In "Breakfast on Pluto" Cillian plays a crossdresser named "Kitten", (that's the character in my icon) who lives out his/her life in a kind of fantasy world, but really just wants to be accepted for who he/she is. Its really quite a poignant film, and though some people might not embrace the concept of a movie about an Irish crossdresser, it is quite interesting. Plus Cillian's acting is incredible (and he makes an absolutely gorgeous woman - gorgeous as he is as a man!) and the soundtrack is also excellent! Basically, the movie follows "Kitten"'s adventures from the time he is abandoned by his mother in a small, conservative Irish town, to his nearly getting kicked out of private Catholic school, to his leaving his strict foster mother and joining up with a touring rock band, to his eventually moving to London and trying to find odd jobs, and getting framed for a nightclub bombing. In the background of the movie there is also the tension and violence of the IRA bombings and activities. Here is the link to Roger Ebert's review, because he is better than I with words: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051222/REVIEWS/51019004/1023
Finally, I have to report that yesterday we went out and bought our first ever Mp3 recorder/player and Masahiko has been having fun playing with it. Now he's recording some of his tapes onto MD, and then onto CD, so that he can easily take music back to Chicago. Its so cool to have so much music in the palm of your hand!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Mine is over and I'm facing a tough week since I think I will tell people that I'm leaving... Ah!
