well, the good news is that I'm still alive. I haven't been on LJ for over 24 hours and I'm really behind on people's posts, and on writing anything about my life (and writing my 3rd chapter in the Japan Guide). and I'm behind on emails too (sorry Linda, and Gina, and Sarah and other people who I owe letters and emails to)...

The bad news is that I'm still feeling scattered and stressed, so I might not be totally "here" for the next 24 hours too. I have just too much on my mind. Just as I was about to make a decision this weekend, things got complicated. can't explain on here, but suffice to say I'm STILL not sure if I'm moving back to the states or staying in Japan...
all will be decided by tomorrow, though, because I can't wait anymore.

I did have a fun day yesterday though. Went with Masahiko to the recording studio in Numazu (which is inside this really big community center near the beach and a big park with lots of trees). We were there all day - from about 11 a.m. until about 9 p.m., but it was a lot of fun to see the recording and rehearsal process, and to meet the other members of this band that he's been playing with lately. They are some of the nicest and most interesting people I've met here in Japan (musicians are always interesting). There are about 10 members altogether - some from Tokyo even! There are two drummers, one percussionist, one keyboard, one DJ, two singers, three guitarists, and a bassist. I think there might be more people, but that's all I can remember meeting. Plus there were other people there: a guy who 'sponsors' the band (basically he bought most of their instruments and supports them), Toshi's sister-in-law who helps with set up and recording, and various other people that I met throughout the day. It was lots of fun. When I got bored, I walked around the forest and by the ocean (the weather went from gorgeous in the morning to a thunderstorm in the afternoon), and read my book. I was really disappointed that I didn't get to go into the onsen (there was a 'green tea hot spring bath "onsen" in the building) - by the time I went to see where it was, it was closed!! Everything closed up by about 3 or 4 p.m. since the place is geared for seniors and families.

Anyway, after the recording session was done, and they had loaded all the equipment into the cars and taken to Toshi's house nearby, a few of us went for ramen (at 10:30 p.m.!)...
We didn't get home until about 11:30 - and Masahiko was very tired because he had done the recording for two days (Sat and Sun), plus set up everything Friday night and gone surfing Saturday morning! But I've never seen him so positive and having so much fun in the whole time we've been married. And that's why I am having this conundrum about leaving Japan - because I feel that I can't take him away from this new band and these new friends when this is just what he's been needing! They have a gig in Tokyo on April 1st and I plan to go with him - its like a big family, and I enjoy the whole atmosphere.

in other news, our weather is gorgeous today! and I think we're going to the beach again on Wednesday. I could get used to this lifestyle (if only I could make money by doing it!)...

hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll be commenting and communicating more soon!

this is something funny forwarded to me by my cousin Linda. thought I would make everyone smile with this funny story and picture:

> Men's restroom gets a mural on the wall

We all know that women have been held back and underpaid in the
workplace. Edge designs is an all women-run company that designs
interior office space. They had a recent opportunity to do an office
project in NYC. The client allowed the women of this company a free
hand in all design aspects. The client was a company that was also run
by all women execs.

The result? Well...

We all know that men never talk...never look at each other...and never
laugh much in the restroom. The men's room is a serious and quiet place.
But now, with the addition of one mural on the wall...

Let's just say that the men's room is a place of laughter and smiles )
