Edit

OK folks. Two others have since posted these movie quotes memes, and almost all quotes have been guessed. Were my movie quotes too obscure perhaps?

Anyway, here are the remaining unguessed quotes, and here are some hints, okay?

Quotes:

* No! I'll make it very clear. You slip me the cash, and I'll slip you the wiener!

* Its amazing. You look like a normal person but actually you are the angel of death.

* The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.

Hints (and these aren't in order of the quotes listed)

one of these movies was filmed in Chicago, and starred a much younger actor who is currently in "Rent"

one of these movies is about the place I'm living now

one of these movies stars the comedian who used to be on the comedy "Soap"

There's just too much going these days. I've been trying to get this apartment in Chicago all sorted out, and I even had my mom mail some checks to the manager so that she could start the credit check and hold the apartment. But after three days, the manager still hasn't received the money, so I'm still waiting to know that I have the apartment for sure. I might have to find some way to wire money from here! What a pain! Of course I have the job waiting for me, so that's a plus - but I need somewhere to sleep too:)

I went ahead and booked a flight to Chicago from Narita though - for April 25th. It's just a month away, and I have a lot to do! It is going to cost a near fortune for me to fly to Chicago in April, though, because of spring break and other Japanese holidays. But it just gets more expensive after that, so I have no choice. And of course I have to pay extra to take my cat on the plane, and get him a health certificate, so the costs will keep rising. Masahiko will plan to come to Chicago with me, but he might wait about two weeks and come in early May. Luckily, this apartment is supposed to fully furnished (except for maybe a TV and other electronics), so all I need to buy is a car!

I had hoped that I might start organizing things and packing this weekend, but I just don't feel motivated. However, I do need to get started.

And in other news, I have signed on to co-maintain an LJ Community! So everyone stop by and be sure to join [profile] thedailyactor okay? I will be sharing the responsibilities with the current maintainer [profile] gooniegal who has been too busy lately and needed some help. Since I love actors, and love movies, I am gladly helping her out! It will be a new challenge for me, and a way to meet more LJ people!

Today is a glorious sunny day, with a nice little breeze, and it is very spring-like. I even went for a walk to the store, so that I could enjoy the weather. Tomorrow we are supposedly taking Daiki, Masahiko's nephew, somewhere for fishing. It will be just the three of us, and should be fun!

Finally, I will write about my dinner with my friend Akiko, which turned out to be quite interesting. more on the conversations with Akiko )

Yay! It finally arrived! about one month after people the world over watched the Academy Awards, and after I've already contemplated and discussed many facets of the ceremony and the results with my family and friends, I finally had my chance to watch the show. My mother had been nice enough to record the whole thing for me, and she sent it to me here in Japan!

I really don't want to go into a point by point review, but I'll say that watching the actual show makes the whole thing much more meaningful for me. Of course the awards are the main reason to watch, but I love just the whole pageantry of Oscar night (and I even like the pre-awards shows and post-awards shows, which I did miss this year). I love seeing the gorgeous actors and actresses in their beautiful clothes and makeup, I love hearing the speeches and the special presentations, I love wondering who will give the most memorable speech (this year's was Reese Witherspoon for sure); I just love everything about it. Honestly in the last 15 years or more, the only time I've ever missed the Academy Awards were the three years that I was in Japan! Otherwise, if it ever conflicted with work or school, I just missed work or school so that I would watch it! That's my obsession! it seems like this year there were lots of special "montages" of great film moments from film history, which I always enjoy seeing - though seeing all of those film clips makes me realize how many great movies that I still have yet to see! I told my husband tonight that even if I watched 5 movies a day for the rest of my life, I doubt if I would ever see every movie that I want to see! I love film! Anyway, finally I thought that Jon Stewart did a great job as host - he was low key, but extremely funny. Jake looked gorgeous in his tux, Heath and Michelle were a gorgeous pair, Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman were stunning, and I thought that Izthak Perlman playing all of the best score pieces added some class to the show. Especially after that terrible song from "Hustle and Flow" won the best song award.

So, it was a little late, but I am glad I watched it...

and speaking of movies, to keep with my tradition, here is a review of Woody Allen's "Match Point" which I watched a few days ago. That's gorgeous Scarlett Johansson in my icon there from the film.

go here for my sleepy review (its midnight and I should be in bed...) )
