it's not life that matters but the journey...

I have to leave for work soon, but I wanted to at least do a quickie post since I didn't get to for the last couple of days. When I sat down on here finally last night around 9 p.m., after organizing my things for nearly two hours (two of my boxes finally arrived from Japan), I had to shut down the computer since we were having a big, crazy thunderstorm. The weather here in Chicago is just crazy! It will be warm and sunny one minute, and then all of a sudden break out in a storm. But I do love lightning storms, as long as I'm inside and not trying to drive in the pouring rain. Last night the storm came suddenly - I heard one distant crack of thunder, and then the rain started, followed by closer and louder thunder and lightning. I shut off my computer, and we turned off all of the lights in the apartment, and sat on the sofa and watched the lightning for about 15 minutes. It was spectacular! Nature really is amazing - so much electrical energy just filling the sky. Of course some idiot had to ruin the scene by hitting the horn on his car for about 5 minutes until someone finally yelled at him. Ah, gotta love the city!

I've been just exhausted this week from all of the walking to and from the train station and work, and from all of the running around and buying things for the apartment. Also, I am spending every lunch break making phone calls that I can't get done from home, so I never seem to have a break. Even when I sat down to watch a movie the other night, I was so tired that I fell asleep - that's happened twice lately when I was watching movies, so I guess I'll be re-adding them to Netflix later.

The good news is that with this three day weekend, I can really rest. There's some shopping to do, but it's not urgent, and I can just relax and enjoy life. M has three shows this weekend, so he'll be out at night, but during the day we can be together and hopefully have some fun!

Sorry I've been bad about commenting on LJ. I really plan to have more free time soon, and then I can be a better friend...
