so today's the day to say bye bye to rabbit ears forever!
RIP:
I think I still have one of these somewhere in my storage:

of course I haven't needed it for awhile because I pay Comcast an astronomical amount of money for a bunch of garbage channels that I don't even watch. I tried to cut back on my service to see if I could, perhaps, save some money; but I found out that our local Comcast has eliminated their cable plan between the basic ($30 a month), which is just local channels, and the Digital Starter ($60 a month), which is quite a few channels, but no movie channels and not even the Sci-Fi Channel! And I don't even have time for tv anymore, but if I cancel my Digital and go down to basic, I could potentially have trouble with my internet modem because it's a different type of modem apparently. Man, these cable companies really know how to take advantage of customers. There's literally only a few choices if you want high speed internet plus some kind of cable television service (which is now even more necessary if you want any kind of tv signal without buying a converter). I could switch to AT&T, but they are expensive too - plus I don't want a land line phone, I just want super high speed internet, and a tv signal. Comcast is taking $10 off my current plan until October, so I've got until then to decide what other options I have - I don't want to spend $120 a month when I don't even watch much tv.
not much else going on in my life this week. Last night I didn't even turn on my computer. I went swimming for 30 minutes after work, had some semi-burned pizza for dinner (I can't trust my hubby to cook frozen food!), and then I studied Japanese for an hour. I started rewatching the last few episodes of True Blood Season 1, and then read until I got too sleepy. That was only 10:30! Swimming just exhausted me.
This weekend is probably going to be uneventful as well - I've got car repair, shopping, cleaning and of course watching of movies and tv shows. True Blood Season 2 starts Sunday - of course I don't have HBO, but I'll get the show somehow, someway! I've now read six of the Sookie Stackhouse novels (currently waiting for books 7 and 8 to arrive in the mail) and I'm anxious to see how much the show follows the books - season 1 was not very close at all.
Oh but I do have something to look forward to. I'll be taking a beginning vocal techniques class on Sundays starting June 28th at the same school where my husband has been taking his private guitar lessons. I decided that a class would be better (and cheaper) than private lessons. The class is 1 hr and 20 minutes on Sundays for 8 weeks! I just hope I'm not too shy to actually get anything out of it - but it will be good practice for me to sing in front of a group.
so June may be slow, but July and August will be full. Still no trips planned - I'm not sure I can afford a trip to Washington in the summer, so I may not be visiting my family until fall.
Well that's all for now... hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm just glad the sun came out today and it's not freezing cold as it's been all week. I'm not sure where our summer weather is.
