it's not life that matters but the journey...

Just to ease everyone's minds, the turtles and hermit crabs that I posted photos of, from the festival, are sold to be pets, not food. I know that Japanese people do eat many strange things, but trust me, they don't eat cute baby turtles. 40-50 years ago, who knows - they ate anything after the war...

but for now, rest assured, those turtles would become some little kid's pet, for sure. And there were frogs too!
