I always loved having cats, and nearly had one or more my entire life... When my father passed away I had a cat named Teddie, she was such a doll! She was very in tuned with my emotions, and was right there for me. They can be your best friend, and then they can be very independent... And they all have their own personalities. They are just, I think, the best pet you can have... And I think they are super clever compared to dogs. ;)
I agree with all you said about cats - I love them so much! I've had a cat for all but one year of my life - that was my first year in Japan, and then I got Leo as a stray. cats are definitely tuned into our emotions, and to the earth's changes too. my cat's been freaking out with the earthquake and the tsunamis. they are the best pet!! dogs are cute, but so much work.
