I no longer eat anything involving fish in school lunch if I think it will make me sick, especially if it's fried. Early last year I got really horribly sick from a school lunch and was throwing up my guts about 3 hours later. Fortunately the people who heard me and found me were the school nurse and an English teacher... I explained that I have an allergy to oysters and some shellfish, and now all the teachers just kind of know that "oh, she can't eat some kinds of seafood", but nobody knows exactly what kind, so sometimes I just beg out of disgusting lunches by saying "I'm allergic to this", and since nobody wants to see a gaijin turning green, they just nod and let me eat more rice or soup or whatever on that particular day.
Your kendo club is huge! Ours is going to have 2 kids in it once this year's 3rd-years retire. No freshmen joined so we're pretty much screwed. English club also goes away this year in theory. It's crazy.
