Picture Post - of rabbits and food (but not rabbit food)

I'm getting behind on posting pictures - some of these are from more than two weeks ago! I've also got more pictures from Saturday's local festival, but I'm going to post them later in the week.

For now, enjoy these pictures I have taken at my schools over the last couple of weeks. As always under a cut, and in clickable thumbnails. You can also peruse more of my photobucket pics, if you'd like...

Last time you saw the bunny cages, but this time I've got some close-up pictures of the bunnies at the elementary school up - and I got to feed a bunny too! So cute (not me, but the bunnies, and the kids!)

Next, some more pictures of my yummy (or not so?) school lunches!

That beef dish was tasty, and that’s yogurt, and egg soup with corn and nori (seaweed) – they combine the weirdest things! But it was a good lunch.

That’s frog bread again – but this time they gave us chocolate spread to put on it, which was yummy! And that’s fried squid with chili sauce – it was tasty but gave me a stomach ache!

Those small fried fish are called shishamo, and they seem to serve these at least once every couple weeks at either school I teach. They’re not bad tasting if they’re fried like this, but they are served with the heads and bones.

And speaking of food, here are some food sculptures that the junior high school kids made. They’re on display in the main hall of the school – some of these are amazingly realistic, and look delicious. These kids are so talented:

And speaking of talent, the elementary kids drew posters about the dangers of tobacco – which is really great. I’m so glad they are discouraging kids from smoking in this country – seems like this is one place that is very slow to get rid of that bad habit!

My husband had trouble reading the kanji, but mostly they talk about dangers of smoking, or how one cigarette can cause a fire. and you can tell from the pictures what they’re trying to say:

Here are some pics of the junior high kids practicing kendo:

And finally, a picture of me with my junior high special needs class students. The girl to my left (with the big smile) is Wakana, my favorite student. She’s always so smiley and sweet! This class is a joy to teach – only four students and all so lovely. Though the one boy on the right is always falling aleep in class.

And for those of you who might be interested, here's a picture of me with my new haircut. It's hard to tell from the front how much was cut - it's very very short in the back.

So I'm off to make some lesson plans for elementary kids, and maybe watch the new True Blood - season 3 has begun...

Hmm. Fencing might be fun. White isn't exactly slimming though. ;-)

yea I can't learn fencing here - I'd probably have to move to the UK. I could see if the kids could teach me Kendo - but those helmets are stinky!

LOL!
