if dreams were really our reality, then reality would be only in our dreams...
I finally watched the movie Inception . My mind is still numb. Wow! Not since Memento have I seen a movie that was such a mind rush! and not a surprise then that both films were from the brilliant mind of Christopher Nolan, who also brought us the last two Batman movies.
Now I'm really regretting that I didn't see Inception while I was in Washington over the summer - this movie would definitely have been even more fantastic on the big screen. But I plan to buy the DVD, with English subtitles so my husband can watch it with me, and watch it on my father-in-law's huge TV. that will suffice for a big screen experience! However, I have no idea when the DVD will be out, and my mom will have to buy it for me from the states!
Anyway - I digress. About the movie. I started watching it last night but couldn't stay up until 2:30 to finish it, so went back and re-watched some of the first half, then watched the rest, and now all I want to do is watch it again! What an incredible cast: Leonardo DiCaprio was very watchable, and his acting gets better and better all the time; Cillian Murphy is awesome no matter what he does, and this was no exception; Marion Cotillard was gorgeous and dark and amazing; and the rest of the cast was very good as well, particularly adorable Joseph Gordon Levitt. Ellen Page kind of gets on my nerves for some reason, but she did quite well playing her Greek goddess namesake, Ariadne.
I can't think straight enough to write anything more about the movie right now. Plus what can be said? It's just a mind fuck - and in the best way. I thought I'd like it, but didn't realize I'd like it quite this much. Perhaps I'll go so far as to say it's the best movie I've seen in a couple years, which isn't saying much because I don't watch many movies these days, and really what's coming out of Hollywood in general is garbage! So I'm so happy to see a movie that restores my faith in the cinema again. Thank you Christopher Nolan!
good night.

you know, I never even thought of the idea of the whole thing being a dream in Cobb's head. that is really intriguing. I will have to watch the movie again and see if I catch that line. it went right past me the other day.
the characters weren't very deep, but I did like the relationship between Cobb and his wife - and Marion Cotillard is such a great actress and so beautiful.
