Oy! All kidding aside, I'm really sorry to hear about this! (I know you've posted after this so I'm hoping you've had some good news on things! I'll be reading your later entries right after this one. ;) ) I know how seriously frustrating that is when you just can't tell what's wrong with a computer!
You did the right things checking with a second computer to see if it could still access the internet okay through the modem and router. However, I've learned the hard way that sometimes that can give you odd results: I've had a router that was starting to fail but hadn't quit completely so it would let one computer on the network connect fine and a second one NOT, even though they were both wired into it at the same time! o_O Also, was the computer on when the storm hit and Comcast went down? Did you lose power, too, at the same time or was it just your provider? Unexpected power loss can sometimes catch the computer in the middle of delicate "thinking" in its registry and cause it to scramble itself. :S
There's actually a ton of things that could've gone wrong, sad to say! Setting it back to an earlier system restore point is a good thing to try, too, as was suggested above! Just be sure if you've recently added any files, pics, music, etc. to your hard drive that it's all backed up because some things will disappear after you reset to an early point like that. ;)
Hopefully you'll be able to get it sorted out! Best of luck! *hugs!*
*runs to read the next post to see what happens* Lol! ;) ♥♥♥!!!
