movie recommendations?

again, I'm looking for some movie recommendations to add to my DVD queue on Netflix. My queue already has tons of movies on it, but none seem to be what I want to watch right now. After watching Pan's Labyrinth , and after watching Terry Gilliam's Brazil again last night, which I hadn't seen for many years, I need something that is equally as stimulating, equally as good.

So has anyone seen anything, old or new, foreign or indie or Hollywood made that you think is worth my time?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Mine is a bit sluggish, as for some reason I have very little energy to do anything. maybe it's the humidity, maybe it's some dormant bug that won't leave my system, or just boredom.
I just hope that I can get some energy back by the time I go to work tomorrow - I have a feeling that work will be crazy.

I really like Almodovar's movies, especially All About My Mother. I plan on getting Volver soon. I'll let you know how that is.

Ohhh, looks like you have those in you Q already! hee!

Umm, This Film Is Not Yet Rated was good! I don't know. I usually do the recommendations of Netflix and/or watch all of the movies of an actor. That's beefed up my Q quite a bit!

do I have both of those in my Q? I didn't realize... I need to watch more movies but have lately been into Smallville... now I just finished season 4 and wanted to wait to watch Season 5 ,but I can't - it's too good!

I'll look up that other one too - haven't heard of it - oh just looked it up it's a documentary? looks interesting...

thanks!

My favorite foreign film is 'Y Tu Mama Tambien.' It's by Alfonso Cuaron, who did 'Children of Men' and was a producer of 'Pan's Labryinth.' I love his style.

Maybe you've seen this already, but I really liked Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. It's subtitled.

Did you see 300, my husband raves about it, I haven't seen it yet.

I was watching some older movies on demand the other day that were good, and oft seen, but worth it if you haven't. 'Rebecca' and 'Little Women'.

[identity profile] laurainlimbo.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
no I didn't see 300 in the theater- I wasn't really interested because of the violence and gore - and it seems like a very long battle scene. but I might check it out on DVD as my husband might like it.

oh Rebecca and Little Women are both wonderful movies - Rebecca is actually one of my top 5 fave Hitchcock films. brilliant!!

*hugs*

Hm, I don't have many movies I could rec that would be something you'd like to see, lol! ;) I'm usually way too mainstream in my movie tastes! ;)

Although, have you seen Superman Returns? It's not quite the same mindless action you might expect of the typical superhero movie. It's a little more deep and "thinky" than a lot of its kin. Though it does still have lots of action and such. And I thought Brandon Routh was just fantastic as Clark/Superman, so that kinda influences me there, too. ;) Still might not be your cup of tea but I wanted to have something to rec if I possibly could, lol! ;)

Ooo, don't want to forget to point you to this post where I finally redid my 7 songs meme with some "softer" choices. ;)

Hope you're doing well! *hugs!* ♥♥♥!!!

I did see Superman Returns and have it on DVD in fact:) I liked it and thought Brandon was very cute. but Tom Welling is my fave Clark Kent - so hot!! it's a good recommendation!! though I did hate the girl playing Lois in that movie - terrible actress!

*runs to your post* yay more music!!!

I'm doing pretty well - thanks for checking - still kicking despite the heat and humidity and weird stuff at work (will post later more details)

*hugs*
