I lied. I wasn't going to write again before I returned from my trip. but I thought I would just get in one more before I get really busy!
I was re-reading my last couple of entries, and I think I was being a little bit harsh about my job and the owner of the school. She is a bit annoying in that she can't manage her teachers' schedules, and lets all of her teachers take vacations at the same time. And she does constantly find fault with the way I do things (I wonder if its just me or all the teachers). But she is trying to run a business, with foreign employees as an added complication, and its only in its first year. So I should really give her some slack. and some credit. I just feel like I am going out of my way (literally since I commute an hour each way) to help her, yet she can only offer me hours that are at night. that is when most people are free to study English, and when other teachers don't want to teach. I am enjoying the teaching more and more, now that I'm accustomed to the way the school is run, so I would like to continue there for awhile. But it seems that in September, she can only offer me Saturdays - and now she wants me to work until 7 p.m. - I've been working until 6. Hmmmm. And she'll let me work Wednesdays if I can stay until 9 - which means I don't get home until after 10. Hmmmmm. Of course, if I work less, then I'll have more time to write, and to study Japanese. Lots to think about. Good thing I can get away for awhile and mull it all over.
It would be really nice if Masahiko and I could get some students here in our home so that I could eventually stop going to Shizuoka. Our plan is to get it started in the fall, when things cool off and when people get into regular routines. August is crazy! Naoko said today that next year she should cancel her classes in August (since most people take vacations then, including the teachers!). Good idea!! But next year is a bit late.
