I just have to say that the Internal Revenue Service is the most evil organization on the face of the planet.

they made me cry today.

I've been trying to get through to them for two days, but finally today I got a really horrid woman on the phone who was giving me incorrect information and wouldn't help me to understand anything. And when I asked her for clarification, and got a bit frustrated and admittedly angry (who wouldn't?), she hung up on me.

then I tried calling again and got a message that there were technical difficulties and my call couldn't be handled at this time.

they told me that a mistake was made on my amended return but they won't help me.

what am I supposed to do?

actually I can't get help online because I'm checking on the status of an amended return. it's something I have to get my tax preparer to do, if he will call me back.

thanks sweetie!!
*hugs*

If it makes you feel any better I'm a tax preparer for H&R and when we call for clients they treat us like shit 90% of the time too. *hugs* Also double check anything they tell you I've spent plenty of time at work correcting their errors then calling and explaining their mistakes to them. Don't even start me. I'm sorry they are being evil to you.

thanks for the support - that helps to know that. but it doesn't help that I had the amended return done professionally and now the IRS is telling me that there is a mistake and that I'm not getting the money I'm owed, etc. I can't get a hold of my preparer either.
*sigh*
well I guess the only consolation is that the IRS will always find you, and they will surely be sending me something in the mail. so i guess I wait.

Wouldn't it be the job of the guy you paid to prepare your taxes to track town the error on the return? I mean, that's why you pay them. :/

you're right. and I tried calling him and he didn't answer all day today. the company seems to be closed. I called IRS originally just to get a status on my refund, but then they started telling me it was all wrong. I'm almost positive that it's their fault.

Hrm, well, I guess since tax preparation is usually a seasonal job, that's not too surprising. Did they give you any kind of emergency number? If you're able to leave a message, they may call you back.

you're right that they shouldn't have hung up on me, but actually they probably think they are allowed to do whatever they want because they're government agents. we need them so they treat us like dirt. it's not fair!

*hugs* and thanks!!

Keep calling and ask to speak to someone higher up right away. That's insane, they have no right to speak to you like that!

Have you tried any of these services?

I tried that and unfortunately I couldn't get through a second time. there is something wrong these days and when you call the 800 number, it's always got a recording that says all agents are busy and try your call again. I've talked with my tax preparer's secretary and she said to just wait for him to call the IRS and deal with it.

but yes, it is insane. I think they have no right, but they think they do. sad world we live in.

*hugs and snuggles*

*points Dean and his rocksalt shotgun in their direction* 'Nuff said. Dean'll take care of things now. *nods*

If only it was that easy, huh? ;) So sorry that you got a terrible woman who knew nothing and had a total attitude! :( Hope you get this straightened out soon! *big hugs!* ♥!

*big hugs* thanks!!
and if Dean doesn't show up, I can always get my tax accountant to deal with it - he prepared the thing after all:)

it's funny that she got mad at me for having an attitude, but she was really the one with the bad attitude to begin with. *sigh*
