I finally watched the movie I'd had from Netflix for just about one month, I'm Not There , in which six actors portray six different "personas" of Bob Dylan.
I don't know why I put off watching this for so long - besides being busy, I guess I really wanted to give it some time, and be in the right mood. Sadly, I was so tired last night, and it's such a long movie that even though I enjoyed it, I don't feel I got so much from it. But honestly, the best thing about this movie is the actors, especially Cate Blanchett. She is just phenomenal. the movie is worth watching just for her performance. Seeing Heath Ledger was bittersweet - besides seeing him as The Joker in the Batman movie, I haven't watched anything with him since he died. In this movie, he was just beautiful, and watching him I realized how gifted he was. That makes it hard to watch his films anymore, really - he had such a future. Christian Bale plays another persona of Dylan, which was also fun to see. And Richard Gere. The other actors I didn't know. Sadly, I haven't watched much of Todd Haynes' work (galactic_jack must be disappointed with me), but he's truly a gifted director. The way he worked together all of these different personas, time periods, stories, and visions, with the music, was art. I do have to admit my one complaint: the movie dragged towards the end (although I was tired). And not knowing much about Bob Dylan's life, or his music even, it was hard to know how much of this movie was really biographical, or if it was just fiction. Either way, Dylan's complicated personality, music, and life were revealed. And I'm glad I watched it.
I was talking withdove95 tonight, and she told me something about Supernatural (which was one of the many topics we discussed in an hour-long conversation). Apparently, because I live in the Chicago area, the land of baseball, I will not be able to see the first episode of Season 4 because of a White Sox game. Or it could be a Cubs game. Who knows and who cares! Except that I care because it always interferes with the ONLY show that I watch regularly. and I think I live in the only U.S. city that does this, to preempt regular shows (usually Supernatural) for baseball. I'm sure my fellow Supernatural fans will remember how irate I was the last time I missed a show because of the *)!E(_@# game (I'll spare you the cursing tonight). But to miss the first episode after a long long summer... it's torture!! I can't wait to move out of this city. It's just another reason.
finally, another funny Supernatural story - and then I must go to bed. My husband was taking one of the Season 2 DVD's out of my portable player the other day so that he could watch his music DVD, and he saw the picture of the boys on the DVD. He made what might be considered a derogatory remark about the boys, to which I replied "They're brothers, they're not gay." He's watched the show with me several times, so he does know they are brothers. But even if he was being sarcastic, it was quite funny.

my husband is a funny guy sometimes - he was mostly just teasing me, but it made me laugh. lots of supernatural fans like to pair the boys up as slash though - I don't really do that in my mind. I prefer to imagine my self with Jensen - LOL!!

I never think of them as anything other than brothers myself. To each his/her own on it. I just don't like having it in my face ;P My flist is cool about that though ;P Silly hubby-Jensen belongs with you-or me ;P

my hubby is pretty good at tolerating my love of Jensen (and Jake and Johnny and Keanu, etc....), because I tolerate his love of certain models and actresses too.

See? That's a good thing then ;P I love my tv b/f and my ex was like that too-he had his faves and couldn't make fun of mine unless he wanted me to strike back so to speak ;P
