Sunday night 8:45. Another weekend has bitten the dust. It wasn't a bad weekend, nor a very exciting one. Almost the same as usual. Friday night I watched a bunch of tv shows and drank some wine. Saturday I chatted on the phone with my mom for an hour, and my sister for an hour; and I also texted on Facebook with my friend Joie in Sacramento for almost an hour!
I had two private adult lessons - one in the morning and one after lunch -- and in the afternoon I went for an hour-long walk, which felt so good! The weather Saturday was nearly spring-like - I didn't even need a coat. After my walk, I watched the newest Supernatural , which I found to be quite - Interesting - for lack of a better word! my thoughts under the cut - for possible spoilers )

Saturday night I ended up watching The Social Network . My sister had mentioned wanting to see it when we talked on the phone - and I admit I've been curious about it too - and I have wanted to know what the buzz is all about ever since it won Best Picture at the Golden Globes. I had intended to just watch a little bit of it to see what it was like - because I really didn't expect to like it. However, once I started watching, I was totally and completely engrossed. my thoughts, here )

Well I think I had more to write about, but this has become an epic post. It's now 9:48 and I have to work tomorrow. so good night... and hope everyone had a good weekend, wherever you are.

Just finished watching Supernatural's premiere. And I'm really not sure what to think. I kept waiting for something big to happen, and I kept waiting for that feeling of adrenalin that I always get when I watch it. But nothing happened. No Impala. No Castiel. Very little action. Not even any sparks between Sam and Dean. I really hope it gets better. Am I alone on this? what did everyone else think??

I just found out that FlashForward has been canceled. it's official. Why does every ABC show I ever like get canceled???? this was actually one of the only shows I've been with since the beginning, and I was starting to really like it. now I'll have to replace it with something else - preferably something that won't get canceled. I guess I'll start watching Dr. Who - finally!

And in other TV news... I watched the season 5 finale of Supernatural - and all I can say is Wow! I know I'm not very profound. I have no really deep things to say about tonight's show, or this season in general. But the end wasn't as I would have expected. Which isn't good or bad. It just is. And it just confirms how much I love this show. And how glad I am that it's been renewed. I can't my imagine life without the Winchesters in it. Really it's true.

now I'm waiting for the latest FF to download. only three more episodes left. I'm going to watch them, just to see how they resolve everything - IF they resolve everything... but it seems kind of useless doesn't it? I'll only end up wishing for more. *sigh*

I finally watched the movie I'd had from Netflix for just about one month, I'm Not There , in which six actors portray six different "personas" of Bob Dylan.

my thoughts )

I was talking with [profile] dove95 tonight, and she told me something about Supernatural (which was one of the many topics we discussed in an hour-long conversation). Apparently, because I live in the Chicago area, the land of baseball, I will not be able to see the first episode of Season 4 because of a White Sox game. Or it could be a Cubs game. Who knows and who cares! Except that I care because it always interferes with the ONLY show that I watch regularly. and I think I live in the only U.S. city that does this, to preempt regular shows (usually Supernatural) for baseball. I'm sure my fellow Supernatural fans will remember how irate I was the last time I missed a show because of the *)!E(_@# game (I'll spare you the cursing tonight). But to miss the first episode after a long long summer... it's torture!! I can't wait to move out of this city. It's just another reason.

finally, another funny Supernatural story - and then I must go to bed. My husband was taking one of the Season 2 DVD's out of my portable player the other day so that he could watch his music DVD, and he saw the picture of the boys on the DVD. He made what might be considered a derogatory remark about the boys, to which I replied "They're brothers, they're not gay." He's watched the show with me several times, so he does know they are brothers. But even if he was being sarcastic, it was quite funny.

is finally here again, and I hope it lasts! the weather was so gorgeous today, and is supposed to be even warmer tomorrow. and the best thing about the weather is that it boosts my mood a lot - after last week's tragedy, I was pretty depressed, but I'm feeling better. work still sucks, but that's just a fact of life, I guess (at least until I can get into my new career).

I think the weather is also the reason it's so quiet online recently - it must be warm and nice everywhere! I took advantage of it and went out shopping - I bought some spring pants, and some cucumber/melon lotion at Bath and Body Works (my favorite spring scent). I have to get my shoes online because the Clark's I wanted weren't available in brown. Poor Masahiko had to spend a lot of money to get his brakes fixed on his Jeep - but I think our cars are all taken care of for the summer. last week I got my muffler repaired (rather than spending $400 for a new muffler with a warranty, I opted to have it repaired for $40).

the other thing I did tonight was to put away most of my winter clothes, except for the stuff that has to be dry cleaned. I'm sure my dry cleaning bill will be huge with but it's such a nice feeling to get the spring clothes out, and put away the heavy wool sweathers.

tomorrow I am going to meet a girl who used to work in my office - we're going to the Cuban restaurant for the brunch - there's a Brazilian singer/guitarist playing and I want her to see that. plus the food is good!

I don't have any more news. on the television front things are exciting with a new Supernatural last Thursday (which I watched last night because my local CW station prefers baseball to the Winchesters), and a new Heroes on Monday!! woohoo!! that's a long time coming for sure! Supernatural was hilarious - Jensen demonstrated his comedic abilities, and I loved that Kripke was basically taking jabs at his own career as well as the whole genre of horror movies/tv shows (loved the joke about what a bad script "Boogeyman" was). The writing and the timing on this episode were just pitch perfect, and I loved the cameos by Gary Cole (of Office Space) and the other guy from That 70's Show.

Lastly, I have a question for my fellow Supernatural fangirls (and boys): where can I get a full cast of last night's episode? they don't have it on IMDB. And who is the girl that played Tara Benchley? she's not really from those movies, Boogeyman and FeardotCom is she?

have a great Sunday everyone!!

I think fall is over. it's very cold here. and I think I'm catching a cold. bummer.

the other night, Halloween to be precise, I watched a great old movie with Vincent Price, Edgar Allen Poe's "The House of Usher" (based on the story "Fall of the House of Usher"). I truly enjoyed that - what a creepy film, and of course being made by Roger Corman it had all of the campiness necessary for a great fright! Vincent Price was purportedly paid $50,000 to make that film - what a big sum of money that was at that time. I guess he deserved it - he's so good at being evil. but the house is really the evil in that movie - interesting story. great for Halloween!!

thanks to my fave tv show "Supernatural", lately I've been taking a trip back to the '70s and '80s rock that I grew up with. and it's so much fun, the nostalgia. you know, all the bands with names from cities or states: Kansas, Boston, Chicago... I'd forgotten how much I loved the song "Dust in the Wind" - but sadly when I hear that song, I just think of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" ... All we are is dust in the wind. DUDE.

and then there's the other bands that are out of my past: Journey, Sabbath, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Ratt and the Scorpions (ah, yes all the bands named after animals - with the screaming guitar solos)... and then there's the band which I think I can safely say is my favorite band of all time: Bad Company. Paul Rodgers' voice just makes me melt. thanks to [personal profile] dawnie1970 I've been able to rock out in my car - I downloaded her collection of songs from season 1 of Supernatural and I love it!! Plus yesterday I downloaded the first CD (or maybe they just have one?) of the Raconteurs - the "supergroup" with Jack White of the White Stripes. they are so good! so my commute has become a little louder, and it makes the drive so much quicker!!

tonight's "Supernatural" made me think of that movie with Ashley Judd where she's locked up in a cellar with other girls. it was a bit gruesome. and what's with Jo? are the Winchester sons really to be blamed for a mistake that their father made? good show though...

I think I'm going to *try* to learn to knit. emphasis on the word try. I need a creative outlet and I think that is a good one for me. my friend [profile] iilii is going to try to teach me. good luck to her - and to me! and if I can get motivated I might just have time to knit something for my sister's baby boy who is due in less than a month!

and finally...work sucks.

that is all.
