For those who are celebrating it -

it's almost 2 p.m. and I'm so sleepy. My husband and I, since it's just the two of us and we didn't want to cook, went out to the kaiten-zushi (otherwise known as the rotating sushi bar) for lunch and pigged out on sushi, tempura and miso soup - yummmmy! it was not crowded at all, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Now I'm ready to settle in for the afternoon and bake some pumpkin cookies, do some knitting, read my textbook (I'm only 100 pages behind!), and sleep... oh and do holiday cards too!
I called my family this morning - they are all at my mom's house in Port Angeles, WA - my sister and Cameron (my nephew) are there visiting for a couple days. I wish I was there too! I was feeling so lonely and homesick yesterday - I always get this way at the holidays. I vowed that I wouldn't spend another holiday season away from my family, yet here I am 2000 miles away from them, with not enough holiday time to go out there to visit.
But next year I may be able to get back to Washington permanently. at least that's the current plan. I've been saying this every year, but finally I'm in a position to make it happen. Since I'll be done with my paralegal certificate in May, there's no more reason for me to stay out here so far away from all of my family (they're all on the west coast). I need to be near them all again - at least for a while. I found out this morning that my favorite uncle in California has been really sick. He recently had bladder surgery, then because of his diabetes his blood sugar shot up to 400 and he caught pneumonia on top of that! They were able to bring his blood sugar down, but he is fighting the pneumonia now with a series of antibiotics - I really hope he is okay! what a way for my poor aunt and cousin to spend Thanksgiving.
I thought I'd end my post by writing a list of what I'm thankful for today.
Thanksgiving may not have as much meaning for me when I'm away from family, and I've been having a pretty hard time staying positive with my lack of direction and stability lately, but I think it's a good idea for me to think about what I can truly say thank you for:
1) The relationship that I have with my husband - even though it's up and down, he has always been there for me for 7 years! He's my best friend.
2) My cat, Leo - I realized last night, when I was feeling down, that my cat is a true comfort for me.
3) My wonderful family - including my not yet born niece (who will be born in February). They are always supportive whenever I need them.
4) My awesome LJ friends - you're always here to support me too whenever I'm down, and to share stuff with me and join in the joys of fandomness... I don't know where I'd be without Supernatural, which is how I met most of you!
5) I'm thankful that I have a job, money in the bank, a roof over my head, and food to eat. That's very important these days not to take for granted.
6) my relatively good health, especially after my recent fainting spell. nothing turned out to be wrong, so I'm happy for that!
That's about it. There might be other little things that I'm thankful for (like Jensen Ackles, Chocolate, Sushi, etc...), but these are the most important! and I'd really be thankful if I had some pie!!!
so what are you all thankful for!
have a happy day no matter where you are:)
