For those who are celebrating it -

Glitterfy.com - Glitter Graphics

it's almost 2 p.m. and I'm so sleepy. My husband and I, since it's just the two of us and we didn't want to cook, went out to the kaiten-zushi (otherwise known as the rotating sushi bar) for lunch and pigged out on sushi, tempura and miso soup - yummmmy! it was not crowded at all, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Now I'm ready to settle in for the afternoon and bake some pumpkin cookies, do some knitting, read my textbook (I'm only 100 pages behind!), and sleep... oh and do holiday cards too!

I called my family this morning - they are all at my mom's house in Port Angeles, WA - my sister and Cameron (my nephew) are there visiting for a couple days. I wish I was there too! I was feeling so lonely and homesick yesterday - I always get this way at the holidays. I vowed that I wouldn't spend another holiday season away from my family, yet here I am 2000 miles away from them, with not enough holiday time to go out there to visit.

But next year I may be able to get back to Washington permanently. at least that's the current plan. I've been saying this every year, but finally I'm in a position to make it happen. Since I'll be done with my paralegal certificate in May, there's no more reason for me to stay out here so far away from all of my family (they're all on the west coast). I need to be near them all again - at least for a while. I found out this morning that my favorite uncle in California has been really sick. He recently had bladder surgery, then because of his diabetes his blood sugar shot up to 400 and he caught pneumonia on top of that! They were able to bring his blood sugar down, but he is fighting the pneumonia now with a series of antibiotics - I really hope he is okay! what a way for my poor aunt and cousin to spend Thanksgiving.

I thought I'd end my post by writing a list of what I'm thankful for today.
Thanksgiving may not have as much meaning for me when I'm away from family, and I've been having a pretty hard time staying positive with my lack of direction and stability lately, but I think it's a good idea for me to think about what I can truly say thank you for:

1) The relationship that I have with my husband - even though it's up and down, he has always been there for me for 7 years! He's my best friend.
2) My cat, Leo - I realized last night, when I was feeling down, that my cat is a true comfort for me.
3) My wonderful family - including my not yet born niece (who will be born in February). They are always supportive whenever I need them.
4) My awesome LJ friends - you're always here to support me too whenever I'm down, and to share stuff with me and join in the joys of fandomness... I don't know where I'd be without Supernatural, which is how I met most of you!
5) I'm thankful that I have a job, money in the bank, a roof over my head, and food to eat. That's very important these days not to take for granted.
6) my relatively good health, especially after my recent fainting spell. nothing turned out to be wrong, so I'm happy for that!

That's about it. There might be other little things that I'm thankful for (like Jensen Ackles, Chocolate, Sushi, etc...), but these are the most important! and I'd really be thankful if I had some pie!!!

so what are you all thankful for!

have a happy day no matter where you are:)

That's a great post. I'm thankful every day for my LJ friends - they keep me sane. :-)

I'm sorry you're not with your family this holiday though. Hopefully you'll be closer to them soon. Will your husband be OK with the move?

You're studying paralegal? Nice.

Fainting spells? Sound worrying.

Sorry - I want to get you know you a little better. I can wait though... :-)

thanks! LJ friends are the best:)

I will be closer to my family next year. and it's a bit of a long story with the move - my husband is going back to Japan for awhile to be with his family, while I am returning to the west coast to be with mine for awhile. we will reunite later on - just taking a little break to be with our families. it's hard marrying someone from another country. but we'll be okay.

yea I have been doing the paralegal studies for about 1 1/2 years - I'm almost done - yay! it's fun but I'm tired and ready to be done. hope it will help me get a better job next year.

well I had only the one fainting spell about a month ago while I was at work - I wrote about it on here. it was really weird and I still don't know what caused it. the same thing happened to me 10 years ago - but it's not really a common occurrence for me. it was scary, mostly because I don't know why it happened and if it will happen again.

don't say sorry - it makes me happy that you want to get to know me better:) ask away...

*hugs*

Thanks for the info. I feel bad that I haven't had time to go back into your journal more.

I married someone from another country too. I'm Welsh and my husband is English. lol. It's not that drastic though, is it? We live in England though, and I'm only a couple of hours away from my Mum's house.

that's okay - my most interesting archived entries were from when I was in Japan - mostly the last year has been just complaining about work and life.

I have always dreamed about visiting Wales, England and also Scotland and Ireland. that's where all my ancestors are from.

You should visit the UK if you get the chance - I will always love Wales, but my little corner of England is very green and pretty. :-)

I went to Scotland for the first time last year, and it was fabulous. Ireland was fun too.

oh I really want to visit the UK - I have friends over there too! but I just don't have vacation time now. and is it safe to travel anymore?

I will go someday... hopefully in the next 4-5 years:)
