When Brokeback lost that's when I lost all interest in the Oscars to but I don't care about watching any of the other award shows now either. I'll hear after the fact and if there is one I like i'll give a little cheer or something.

'Slumdog Millionaire' is a great movie. It's quite a journey. I've also seen 'The Reader' and just saw 'Revolutionary Road' - I so love Kate Winslet in both. She's my favorite actress.

Ah, I feel your pain re: the Academy Awards! Like you, I enjoy watching for the beautiful gowns and the beautiful men (yum) :-) but I'm just not excited about them at all. I haven't seen any of the nominated films either, and just as you said, I don't really want to see them, except Milk and possibly The Reader (only because of Kate!) And Crash winning over Brokeback Mountain? Ugh. The Oscars were kind of dead to me after that. I couldn't believe it when that happened!

You might want to give the Indie Spirit Awards a shot (if you get the Independent Film Channel.) They are usually quite fun to watch even if you haven't seen all the films. I think they're on the night before the Oscars.

I do want to watch the Independent Spirit awards - I missed it the last few years since I didn't have that channel, but this year I can see it!
you know, I did like the movie Crash, but I felt it shouldn't have taken the award from Brokeback - it was a really political move, and disappointing. this year, we know it's going to be Slumdog Millionaire for the best picture award, and I guess that's a good thing. But there's no more mystery and surprise with the Oscars anymore.

Don't be sorry. I loved reading your response.

I have checked out bits and pieces of the ISA since 2006 but I just can't sit through any award show anymore.

Go see 'The Reader.' I will tell you that it is a tearjerker but very good.

I'll have to see Slumdog - Revolutionary Road is another I want to see and I'm surprised it didn't get any Oscar nods.

I gotta tell you that 'Revolutionary Road' is intensely sad. It did get a few Oscar nods including best supporting actor (and totally needs to win it). Also, David Harbour who played Randall Malone in BBM is in it.
