yes, I find it frustrating that every year, they nominate movies that are just now released in the theater, or between theater and DVD. I'm always scrambling to see them before the awards so that there is some meaning. All the hype and the articles are pointing towards Slumdog winning best picture - and I think I could safely predict the rest of the winners too. there's just not any surprise left in the Oscars anymore.

you're so right about the Academy being biased and conservative. It's so political, like all awards shows. that's its biggest downfall.
