Okay I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a fan of the Twilight movies. I know they're incredibly cheesy - though I haven't read the books because I'm afraid of how bad they'll be. But I do love the movies. And I just read some interesting news about the next movie. Anyone a fan of the fantastic (and too quickly cancelled show) Pushing Daisies ? Or the movie The Fall ? Then you are familiar with the gorgeous Lee Pace. And apparently he's going to be in the newest movie Breaking Dawn - I'm not sure when it's coming out, but I'll be excited to see him!
Here's an article: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=70702

and here's a photo of Lee (that's also him in my icon - from The Fall),

I was so tired when I got home from work today after getting only about 4-5 hours of sleep last night. and I had a major headache, so I took some Excedrin and drank a cup of coffee, and now I'm afraid I'll be wired all night! I've been working on a seriously lengthy post with some information, stories and pictures from my recent teaching gigs... hope you'll enjoy it. If I ever get the photos all coded...

so stay tuned!

that is all... sorry for the meaningless post.

ohmy... you have to read the books! They're so much better!! I actually saw the first movie before I read the books too, but I enjoyed the movie so much I started reading the books, and now it explains so much more to me - - WHY he's looking at her the way he's looking at her... it gets into the history and into their heads so much more in the book.

I'd buy the entire series on amazon. They're good enough for a second read. :)

I won't buy the books, but perhaps I can find them in a library. I think our library here in Fuji has an English version. I've heard that the books are so terribly written, so I've avoided them. but the movies are terribly acted, so I guess it couldn't be so bad - LOL!

I don't agree with corporatebeach, you're way better off sticking with the films, they're tons better than the books!

I've heard terrible things about Breaking Dawn that have totally put me off reading it, but I've read the first three and seen the first two films (the third isn't out on DVD for a while yet). I think I'll probably just watch the films (seriously - two parts?) of BD.

Some brilliant actors have appeared in the series (saga?) so far, and Lee is no exception to that rule! :)

two films for Breaking Dawn? is it that long, like the last Harry Potter book? I think you sent me a link to some site where I could read the books... can't remember if I saved that link. maybe I should read the first just out of curiosity. but I do love the films - gotta love the wolf action in New Moon and Eclipse!

you haven't seen Eclipse yet? curious why didn't you see it in the theater?

yes there have been some great actors. my mom even recognized that guy from New Moon, who played the leader of the Volturi (I can't remember any names)... he's a famous British actor and is some show she watches.

Lee is awesome!

I think I've seen copies of Breaking Dawn in the shops, and it does look quite thick, but not sure how it compares to the thickest Harry Potter books.

Yay for wolves, I find in Twilight that the wolves are so much better than the vampires, and I've never quite understood Bella choosing Edward over Jacob! Which I find bizarre as I'd usually be much more inclined toward the vampire(s) in any similar story, but Meyer's vampires just aren't right somehow.

I don't go to see Twilight films in the cinema because the screens will be filled with excitable 14 year old girls!

Michael Sheen is the guy you're thinking of, he was also Lucian (the head werewolf) in the Underworld films and has made a living playing Tony Blair in various films, and he was also Frost in Frost/Nixon. Quite a range of roles, a very talented guy!

I totally agree about the wolves and about choosing Jacob! why would anyone in their right mind choose a cold vampire over a warm wolf? LOL! and how can vampires that "sparkle" and don't feed on human blood be real vampires anyway? strangely enough though, I do like the Twilight movies!

speaking of vampires, wait until you see the latest SPN - it's about vampires and it's really good!! can't wait to hear your thoughts!

I went to see all the last two Twilight movies in the theater, and while there were young girls there, they didn't bother us at all.

I like Michael Sheen - and I need to see Frost/Nixon. I wanted to see it when it came out but never did.

Isn't there a bit in Eclipse where the difference between a hard cold vampire and a snuggly warm wolf is important? I just remember it was one of many moments when I wanted to bash some sense into Bella! :D

A few people I work with have said they ended up in screens with overexcited teenage girls watching Twilight, but tbh I just have so many other films I'd rather see at the cinema that I'm quite content to wait for the DVD rentals of Twilight to come round! :)

Frost/Nixon is excellent, you definitely need to see it!

yes there's a scene in New Moon where she's cuddling with Jacob in the car and he's so warm - and I was saying to my mom that there was no question which guy I'd choose. But Bella is not very smart! In Eclipse, I think Bella has to cuddle with Jacob to stay warm in the snow storm - and Edward has to allow it or she will die.

I'll try to get a download of Frost/Nixon... so many movies to watch!

ooh I like your icon!!

That was the one I was thinking of, the scene in the snow storm, you're so right that Bella isn't smart, the thing is that if Meyer wanted her readers to be behind Bella/Edward then she shouldn't have made Jacob more interesting and described him in a way that makes him more attractive!

The icon is from Blood and Chocolate, great werewolf movie! :D

I should read the books so I can see how Meyer presents the characters. It would be easy for me to get through them I'm sure.

oh I haven't seen Blood and Chocolate - I'll have to look for it!
I love werewolves - probably more than vampires!

I think that as I got in to vampires long before I took an interest in werewolves (which may seem strange for someone who's favourite animal is a wolf!) I'll nearly always pick vampires over werewolves. I don't much like the man in a hairy suit type of were, but the ones that morph into actual wolves I think are pretty cool, like in True Blood, Twilight, Blood and Chocolate, Kelley Armstrong's werewolf series, and Vampire Diaries.

I guess I'm the same - I've been into vampires longer than werewolves. and I agree - the man in the wolf suit is silly - I saw the remake of Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro when I was on the plane. it was interesting, but not the best werewolf movie ever made. I love the real wolf types too - the ones in the Twilight movie are quite fun!

I'm trying to remember about the wolves in the old movies Company of Wolves and The Howling I seem to recall they were quite scary wolves too. And there's also Silver Bullet. lots of good wolf movies!

I haven't ever watched Vampire Diaries but I feel like I should - everyone seems to like it. but it seems like more Twilight stuff... is it good?

oh and how could I forget my favorite werewolf movie An American Werewolf in London !

The book series that Vampire Diaries is based on predates Twilight by a number of years, though obviously it's the popularity of Twilight that has made it viable as a TV Show.

As for similarity to Twilight: I find that Stefan can be a little too Edward like at times, but Elena seems to avoid most of Bella's worse traits, and it is set in high school like most of these things. The best character is Stefan's brother Damon played by Ian Somerhalder (Boone from Lost), he steals every scene he is in, I guess he's basically the bad boy type but he's so much more interesting than Stefan - and he has amazing eyes.

I guess it's one of my guilty pleasure shows, one that doesn't take too much brain power but is fun and has vampires (and witches and werewolves!).

hm now I wonder if I should read the books at least - I might be able to find them on Amazon.com here in Japan. I hardly have time for more shows - I need to spend my time doing more productive stuff as it is.

oh but I might need to watch for Ian Somerhalder - he's gorgeous!

and if it has witches and werewolves - why am I not watching it??

I agree with Jamie - the books are better. Won't take you long to read them either.

Hmmm, Lee Pace. He was SO lovely in Pushing Daisies...

really? I've heard the books are so terrible. I have been curious though... so perhaps I'll pick up the first one at our library - I saw it there recently.

yes, Lee is lovely isn't he? I love his eyes!!!

They're not terrible, IMO. They're not great literature, sure. But I found them SO easy to read, and quick too, considering they look huge.
