cat advice needed

Hi - anyone with a cat, can I ask an opinion?

My kitty started sneezing a couple weeks ago, and I thought it might be the litter, so I changed it. the sneezing stopped. But all of a sudden today, he started sneezing again, and he sneezed about 5-7 times in a row, and just wouldn't stop. He has been sleeping all day, and when he wakes up, he starts to clean himself and starts sneezing. I read a bunch of forums and articles online that say as long as kitty doesn't have any discharge from his nose or eyes, and is still eating, then he's not sick. Paddington doesn't have any discharge, and he seems fine other than the sneezing. He ate a healthy amount of food today, and used his litter box. I cleaned the apartment really well today - got rid of dust and even cleaned out his box again. I opened the windows (even though it's still terribly cold here) and aired out the apartment, with fans to move the air around. He is sleeping now, and usually by this time he's more active. the sneezing probably wore him out. If he still is sneezing tomorrow or the next day, I'll take him to a vet - but if he's eating and still seemingly fine, then should I worry? Anyone else had this experience with your cats?

Meanwhile, I've come down with some kind of cold again - bad sore throat and headache, and sinus thing... I thought maybe the air in my apartment was causing both of us to get sick, since I never go out. but then again, I did go to a chain restaurant on Sunday called Sweet Tomatoes - it's a buffet salad/soup restaurant, and I think that being out amongst so many people, I picked up a bunch of germs. Plus, buffet restaurants are just bad news... too many people touching food, and I don't think I'll go again.

Well, if you have cat advice, please let me know. I'm worried about my baby, but I don't want to spend money at the vet if there's really nothing wrong with him but just a case of allergies or dust.

thanks!

All my experiences with sneezing turned out to be allergies and colds - I will say cat snot is hard to clean seriously it gets everywhere. If the discharge starts follow him around with a bottle of cleaner. I mean there was some on my ceiling once, I kid you not. The late great Atreides would get some serious distance with his. (yeah gross I know but truth)

Feel better hon!

I used to volunteer for a rescue, and kitties would develop the sneezes from time to time. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get him checked out only because he may have an irritant in his nasal passages, and since the symptoms are new for him. Let the vet be the expert at ruling out stuff. You can't put a price on peace of mind since sneezing can be a symptom of so many different things for cats.

My kitties both sneeze sometimes and I figure that it's just allergies or something, kind of like I do. But it does seem like your baby is sneezing a lot, so I really don't know.
