I've been awake for two hours and its only 6 a.m. My sister and her fiancee are visiting, and I gave them my bedroom. Unfortunately, that's where Leo's been sleeping since we arrived in Chicago, so he won't let me sleep. He woke up at 4 and started crying and running around - and standing outside the bedroom door wanting to get in. So, I've been up trying to play with Leo and keep him from crying and waking my guests.
My life doesn't seem to get quieter or more relaxed, even though I've been here for over a week now. With all the moving, and shopping, and starting to work, and then my sister visiting, there hasn't been time to just "let down" and relax. And of course I still need to search for a car, get an auto loan, get cell phones, and deal with tax issues, so I don't see any reprieve in the near future.
I really want to do some writing for fun - maybe some more reflecting on Japan, or movie reviews, or even some fiction or poetry. but unfortunately, it will have to wait until all the business is taken care of. Sometimes I really miss that quiet, peaceful life I had in Japan. Nothing to worry about, nothing to do... but of course that is why I was unhappy.... why is life so complicated?
It's not all that bad though. I've had fun with my sister here, and I was glad to meet her fiancee. We didn't do much since they aren't here for long, but it's been nice just to see her. Yesterday I worked a half day and met them downtown in the afternoon for lunch and walking around. We went to the lakefront, Buckingham Fountain, and walked along Michigan Avenue before stopping at a pizza place so that they could try Chicago's famous pizza. We did so much walking, and I was exhausted last night - so I wish that I could sleep! They are leaving today - they both have to get back to work (and so do I!), so hopefully my cat will get back to normal again. I don't know why he had to cause so much trouble when they came to visit!
And another great thing - I signed up for Netflix for the first time and I am having so much fun! It's the little things in life that make me happy, and I'm so happy that I can finally make a list of movies I want to see, and then just wait for them to come to my mailbox! Yay!
Well it looks like Leo is sleeping, so I guess I'll try to get an hour shuteye before I have to wake up for work...
sorry I haven't commented much on people's journals - I will get back into the swing of life again soon.
have a great day!!

Wow, you really haven't had much 'down time', have you? Be careful not to run yourself ragged. We don't want you getting sick.
::pets Leo:: His life's been turned upside-down too. Sweet kitty.

no until this weekend I haven't had much time to relax, but I am relaxing now, and tomorrow I plan to do nothing!! except search online (not out and about) for a used car. I don't want to get sick either - though I do have a big pain in my neck that won't go away... I need a massage!
Leo is really having a harder time than I - he is so disoriented and lost. but I guess eventually he will get accustomed to his new surroundings.

Have you ever been to the art museum in Chicago? That's where one of my favorite Picasso pieces lives...Mother and Child... I've probably told you about it.
You should go. And take pictures. And send them to me. LMAO. "Picasso says 'hi'!"

I am sorry to hear that Leo is keeping you awake hon. I hope that once the guests are gone, he will let you get back to sleeping on a normal schedule.
And here is hoping that soon you get to relax some
take care
