I hope everyone had a great weekend - and for those of you who watched the World Cup I hope it was great! I didn't watch it. I don't have cable. I get two religious channels, one Korean channel, one Indian channel, and several Mexican channels in addition to the standard crap that you get without paying. good thing I don't care about TV! My weekend wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad either. It was just there. M didn't play music on Friday or Saturday nights, so we were together the whole weekend - and it was nice! I didn't watch any movies (weird for me), but just watched the rest of the second season of Six Feet Under. I think I'll go back to movies for awhile and catch the other seasons later. I've got to get back to my movie reviews sometime...

I did finally get together for a birthday dinner with my two friends on Saturday night - we had Thai food. yummy! but I think it will be my last dinner out for awhile since I really need to save money. since I married someone who knows how to cook, and who loves to eat healthy food, I don't need to eat out. I have to save my dinners out for when my mom visits. Yes, my mom told me tonight that she's going to visit me next month! Yay! she misses me so much that she has to come to see me. I will see family in August though since I just found out that my sister will have her wedding then. I'm so excited for her!

besides the Thai dinner, and some shopping, I didn't do much this weekend but rest. and I needed it since I was diagnosed with not one but two infections. so I'm taking two types of medications for a week. Unfortunately, I didn't feel much better today, so when M went off to the blues festival with his friend, I had to stay home and watch DVD's and rest. *sigh* I just couldn't go out when I was feeling a little rough - plus it's been cool here this weekend, which I don't mind, but I don't want to be out in the cool weather and make myself sicker.

I was pretty productive on Saturday though - I put away my winter clothes into a big plastic container (with mothballs) to store for the summer, and we bought a little vacuum so that we can clean the little carpets and the sofa. We do have hardwood and linoleum, so mostly we can just use the swiffer, but the small carpets need to be vacuumed. Also, we thoroughly cleaned out our big closet and threw away some junk that was here in the apartment when I moved in. it's a furnished apartment, so I'm of course using the big furniture, but some stuff that was left here is just junk. so I threw it away! I've realized that except for the location, and the fact that it's furnished and has a garage (which isn't free), this is a dumpy apartment. I like the design and the size, but everything is really old and not well maintained. and my apartment manager really sucks! Remember when my husband fell on the stairs because there's no light on our level? I told the manager and she didn't even ask if he was okay. she didn't care. and she never put a light in - nor will she I'm sure. I'm going to put up with it for a year, but then we're moving to the suburbs.

Oh before I go, here's another interesting story related to our apartment building.

I was coming home from work the other day (I was driving) and as I was pulling into our garage, I saw this older gentleman with gray hair, fairly conservative looking and well dressed, pulling weeds in the alley. Not too strange, right? Well, when I got out of the car, he came up to me and started asking me all these questions about the weeds and the building. The first thing he said was "you ought to see about replacing this garage." (See, the garage we rent is full of junk from the previous tenant - well I shouldn't really say previous since his junk is still occupying half of the garage and it seems to be there for good) Anyway, the garage is quite dirty and ugly, and of course surrounded by weeds, as the whole building is. I don't really care, since we have space to park our car - and since it's a garage, I'm not concerned about aesthetics. it is an old building, and like I said not well maintained.

Anyway, back to this weird man. I was very tired, and not in the mood, so I told the guy that I just rent and don't have anything to do about the building. But that didn't stop him. He didn't leave me alone! So then I told him that our stairs didn't have enough lights and that it was dangerous, and that my landlady won't do anything about it. So he said that I should have a meeting with the landlady and the city and try to get things fixed. He obviously doesn't know my landlady! I don't even know what he was doing there in our alley - he said he lived far down the street in a "very nice neighborhood" with nice houses and no weeds, apparently.

But then he had the gall to tell me that I should go to the home depot and buy one of those power sprayers and weed killer and get rid of the weeds around the garage. so I told him again that I was just renting. to which he replied: oh that's okay. you can still do something! as if that wasn't enough, he then saw my wedding ring and said "OH, good, you're married. You can get your husband to help you." What? I was in *SHOCK* First of all, I just rent, so I'm not going to go out and spend any money to kill weeds, or take the energy on my free time to do any labor for this building (when the manager should be doing it). Second of all, what right does he have to say that I couldn't do it by myself? just because I'm a woman, I need help to kill weeds? ASshole!

So there I was, standing in the doorway of the garage with my groceries, after a day of work, and waiting for this rude **!!er to get out of my way so I could go home!

I really hope I don't see that asshole again - if I do, I'll pretend to be deaf and dumb. of course the next day when we pulled into our alley after shopping we saw a guy in his car throwing up into the bushes! He was either drunk or on drugs, and was dazed and not even able to move his car out of the way! what fun!!

ah, the joys of renting in the big city!!

I hope you can get lot more rest so you can feel better soon. I can empathize with you on the two infection deal. I had it earlier this year.

I hope your landlady comes to her sensese about the lighting situation on the stairwell. That sounds really dangerous.

thanks for the empathy - it does suck having these infections. but the good news is that the medicines appear to be working. and after some rest, too, I feel much better!

I wish my landlady would come to sense about so many things. but *sigh* there's not much I can do until I move out. I don't want to make waves while I'm here since I don't want to be homeless. LOL!

Had he escaped from the local mental ward????

Coz he sounds a bit weird!

Glad you had a good weekend and ha ha you might be the lucky one not having the world cup to put up with!!

mental ward could be a possibility. but even scarier is what my sister proposed - that he was scoping the situation out (or me), and then saw I was married so he backed off. creepy! If he comes around again, I'll ignore him...

is the world cup still going? how was England?

hmmm yes - I came home today in the car and was on the lookout. I think he's a pervert and used the whole weed thing as an excuse to talk to me. icky!

enjoy the games!

Your weed guy sounds a wee bit crazy.

How nice that your mom's coming to visit. It's sweet that she misses you so much. I know how she feels. I'm so excited that Glenn, my oldest son, is coming home in less than a month for a visit.

a wee bit - LOL!

I'm so happy that my mom is coming. like I said, I'll see family in August, but that will be for a wedding and it will be nice to have time with just mom, without other relatives around taking her attention. all to myself:)

I'm glad your son is coming to visit - where does he live?
