well I thought I was coming down with something before the weekend, but it turned out I was just fine...
only now I AM sick. my throat is sore and I feel like someone ran me over with a cement truck. my head feels all flat. does that make sense? think I will stay home from work tomorrow. we are nightmarishly busy, so busy that my friend said it's like we are swimming upstream. there's no end to the work, but I feel I need to stay home and rest. and be alone. it's necessary.
I had my first lesson in knitting today from my friend
iilii and it was tough. it looks so easy but really it's not. but I'm determined. and tonight I cast my first three stitches by myself!! yay!! I have a LONG way to go, but it's a start.
oh, if I owe you a reply or haven't commented, please forgive me. we went out Saturday and Sunday nights to hear live music. Saturday night we went to the Green Mill, a very cool jazz club, but it was too crowded. it took us over 30 minutes to find a parking spot (which was about 10 blocks away, not so fun in a dodgy neighborhood and in cold weather), and then we had to stand because all the tables were gone. we stayed only one set, stopped by the blues club where M used to play to see who was playing, and got home before 11 p.m. Sunday night M had a chance to play a set with his former band at a very cool little BBQ joint called "Smoke Daddy". It's in an up and coming neighborhood near downtown called Bucktown - so the crowd was young and mellow. and we had an awesome pulled pork sandwich - yummy!
so maybe all the going out is why I'm sick. or could it be that my life has just been too busy and too up and down? who knows... but I need to play catch up.
take care of yourselves and stay well and warm.
