I meant to write something this week but it just got away from me ( time that is)...

where did it go exactly? Monday night was spent baking cookies (pumpkin, oatmeal and choco chip - yummy). I'm so domestic these days with my baking and knitting. but it's all very therapeutic. Tuesday and Wednesday were just busy, cooking doing stuff online (but not LJ), talking on the phone with family, watching the last season of Six Feet Under (I'm almost done - it took me so so long to watch this show!). and tonight, I finally had a lesson in knitting. I had learned the basic stitch from my friend Sarah, and have been practicing, but I didn't know what to do with it. I need to start a project, so I signed up for one of the basic knitting classes at Michael's craft store. At first I was a bit worried because when I got there at 6:30 the teacher was not there. I had gone yesterday to register (you're supposed to go 24 hours prior to pay and register), and I even called before driving there tonight to make sure it was okay. But apparently, the teacher had called to see if anyone had signed up and someone stupidly told her NO. Luckily they got her on the phone and she was there by 7 p.m. only 30 minutes late. She gave me two hours one on one, so I learned SO much. She even copied, by hand no less, a pattern for a baby afghan from a book so I didn't have to buy the book! She taught me purling, binding off, and how to do a checkerboard pattern. Also she showed me how to make slippers, so I can do baby booties! She even got me a 40 percent discount on the circular needles I bought and 10 percent off the yarn! I'm gonna start the blanket as soon as possible and I can also go on Friday nights and meet with her and two other ladies for help on my projects. I'm so excited.

We're supposed to get our first big snowstorm tonight - after midnight I guess. it was supposed to come this afternoon but got "delayed." It's unbelievably cold out there - the temp has dropped more than 20 degrees in the last two days, and will only be 15 degrees Sunday. Guess winter's finally here.

sorry if I'm behind on comments and emails. I'll catch up this weekend. right now I have to post my daily actor (I'm doing that community alone these days - eek!), and then go to bed. I'm exhausted!

have a great Friday everyone and stay warm (unless you're in California you lucky ones!!)

It's good to hear what you're up to. I realize your life is extra busy, but I miss your long entries. ::hugs::

I'm glad the teacher showed up. She's sounds like a nice woman.

Pumpkin cookies...yum. :-)
Stay warm. Our temperatures got down into the twenties yesterday but we warmed up today. I guess we sent the cold weather to you.

the cookies were yummy -next is a pumkin cranberry bread. yummmmm!

oh, by the way, I'd love to send a holiday card to you but I don't have your address. did you see that post where I asked for addresses? it was about a week ago. can you reply to that post (it's screened so no one can see your address) or send me an email: yatesfuji@yahoo.com and let me know your address?
thanks!!
hope you are doing good:)

OMG girl! You've learned so much more than I have regarding knitting! I'm so jealous. X)

And oh, I'm sorry you're freezing over there. Today we had 70 degree weather, can you believe that? But tomorrow's supposed to be cooler. I don't know if I like that.

yea it does take patience - tonight I started a project and screwed up and had to start again after I'd been working for a couple hours. I'm still learning so it pays for me to be tenacious.

aw the snow storm - you saw my pics. it was pretty bad. but that's Chicago!

I'd love to teach you but it might be tough since I do it right handed. there are books for left handers to learn knitting so it's possible. it's fun - I just started a project so I have a long way to go.

*hugs*

Donnie Darko is one of my all time favorite movies. of course there's Jake (*sigh*) so that's a great reason, but the whole concept is just so fascinating. I've got the DVD and have watched it over and over. Very cool!!!

yes, today was very very cold. and with the snow on the ground turning to ice, it's pretty miserable here. and it's just the beginning...

well, I'm trying to get better at knitting, but I"m still new so I'm making mistakes. my blanket will take a long time - I just did 2 rows out of a total of 166! I hope I can finish by the time he turns a year old ^_^ it just takes perserverance and patience. and time!

Wow, that's good! Every journey starts with the first step and every blanket starts with the first 2 rows!! Keep going, Laura! You can finish it! ^_^

thanks so much for the encouragement. It's more a matter of time than anything else. and when I have time, I'm too tired to do much more than one row.

but I will finish it- I have to since it's for someone very important!!
