Jr. High age kids can definitely be a handful to deal with. Surly and unmotivated at times. But perhaps it's because you're so new that you're feeling more like an "outsider?" Perhaps with a little more time around the kids and all, things will start to get better for you there. I truly hope they do. *HUGS*

And I absolutely loathe the sort of irresponsible and immature co-workers you're describing here. That is just so freaking frustrating. I'm sorry you're dealing with that.

I do hope you enjoy your time off! I'm sure you can use it! Even if you're just watching movies, I hope you have a great time, Laura!

yea junior high kids are just at that age! they're defiant, easily bored, unmotivated yes... but the younger ones can be really cute too! well there's more reasons than just newness for my being an "outsider" - it has to do with my contract, and the fact that I'm not a full time employee of the school. I will always be just a "guest" - it's nice because my hours are short, but I will never really be involved fully in school activities. but the teachers and students will get more accustomed to me soon!

yes, some of the younger teachers they've hired think they're getting paid to travel around the country, rather than teach English. it's typical. not anything I can do though.

so far my days off have been good - they're going too fast though!

*hugs*
